Cover Crop Reimbursement Program

Deadline: December 15, 2024
This program is an opportunity to be reimbursed for cover crop expenses up to $35 per acre for as many as 100 acres (up to $3,000). It is intended as an incentive for planting cover crop containing wheat, barley, oat and/or rye. Producers who rent conservation district equipment may be reimbursed one day's expense per 50 acres of cover crops planted, up to three days. This funding is made possible with support from American Farmland Trust and the Fayette County Rural Land Management Board.

Eligibility
One application per household and farm serial number
Cover crops for corn, soybean and/or tobacco are eligible (up to 100 acres) (coverage over 100 acres is encouraged but not reimbursable)
Other cover crops will be considered on a case by case basis
Cover crop should be planted before December 1
Deadline to submit application is December 15
Requirements
Completed FSA 578 cover crop report required with application
Applicant must have an updated AG Water Quality plan on file
A copy of the FCCD Equipment Rental Lease Agreement must be submitted for reimbursement
Cover crop may be wheat or cereal rye and can be harvested for grain, grazed, or harvested for forage; should be seeded at the recommended seeding rates
Reimbursements are granted on a first come, first served basis and until funds are depleted.
